Not so much a story as it is her feelings of making a jump...
Oct 1, 2000
I never really got it --the why of jumping out of a plane--the risk
to life and limb.... Well, now I do and I will never be the same. I wish there
was some way to explain what I am still feeling but I am sure you know. The
initial fear and nervousness I think actually heightened the the explosion of
absolute ecstasy in freefall. The sensations of the wind and weightlessness
combined with the perspective of flying of looking at the world so far beneath
you as your heart pounds and your mind screams is beyond description.
Being able too look around you and see others floating with you just intensified
the feeling of total joy at the victory over fear. Thank you for one of the
most unforgettable and mind-blowing experiences I have ever had. Everyone at
work [almost everyone] thinks that I am absolutely psycho for jumping out of
a perfectly good airplane which I myself ignorantly thought before October !,
2000. My mom about went off the deep end I told her I was going back in 2 wks
and she just looked at me like are you nuts! I walked in when I dropped off
Chris this morning and asked her do I look any different---no she said but did
you get your hair cut?-- I said no but I did jump out of a plane at 13,000 feet
yesterday... the look on her face was priceless!! One of my friends is gonna
go with me in 2 wks and take still pictures from the ground-- I hope they turn
out ok he does have a pretty decent camera I think--I hope!!!!
Check out the poem Rachelle wrote after her first jump.
Well, it looks like Rachelle is hooked! She's already talking about making her second tandem, and asking questions about the student program! Welcome to the skies Rachelle! We'll get some pictures up here as soon as we get 'em!
Update: Rachelle has made her second jump. Read about it here. Pictures will be up as soon as I get them from her.
